Capital One Cup Final CLOSE

Capital One

The countdown to Capital One Cup Final is on. This season’s showpiece will see a repeat of the 2008 League Cup Final when Tottenham Hotspur defeated Chelsea after extra time but who will be victorious this year?

Tottenham survived a fightback from League One side Sheffield United to set up the League Cup final with Chelsea who in turn narrowly defeated Liverpool.  Jose Mourinho’s men will start as favourites but Spurs will take confidence from both their superb 5-4 win over Chelsea on New Year’s Day and the canny knack of Eriksen to score important late goals

Spurs, who face a gruelling run of six fixtures in 17 days, travel to Florence just three days before the Capital One Cup final hoping to reach the last 16 for the second successive season, but they will have a difficult task on their hands against a side that has lost just one in their last 12 games in Serie A.

Branislav Ivanovic’s extra-time goal was enough to secure Chelsea’s place in the Capital One Cup final as they beat Liverpool 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate. In what was an end-to-end semi-final second-leg contest, Liverpool had the better chances of the first period but Alberto Moreno and Philippe Coutinho were both denied by excellent saves from Thibaut Courtois.

Who will win the League Cup? How much are Spurs improving under Mauricio Pochettino?   Chelsea make the Champions league a priority over Capital One Cup?

Roll on March 1st at Wembley
